WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (3/4/24) – Cavenaugh Auto World has made a gift toward the Startup Chapel construction project at Williams Baptist University. Fran Cavenaugh, CFO at the auto dealership, recently presented a $5,000 check to Luke Colley, who is vice president for advancement and business development at Williams.

Cavenaugh Auto World’s headquarters and the WBU campus are both located in Walnut Ridge.

“Williams Baptist University is blessed to have supporters like Cavenaugh Auto World in our own community,” said Colley. “Our neighbors have rallied behind the effort to restore and expand Startup Chapel into a top-notch facility that will serve us all well for many years to come. We thank the Cavenaugh family and everyone involved with this business for being such a significant part of that effort.”

Construction is underway on the historic chapel, which dates back to the Walnut Ridge Army Flying School in World War II.  The chapel itself is being fully renovated, and an addition that was on the back side of the building is being replaced by a new structure.

Work is expected to be completed by this fall, at a cost of $1 million. The renovated and expanded Startup Chapel will host student worship services, dramatic productions, lectures and other events on the WBU campus.

Williams is a private, Christian university.
