Western Civilization | History is the foundation of our identity, shaping how we understand the present and envision the future. In this course, you’ll explore the great civilizations of the past—from the Sumerians to the Protestant Reformation—uncovering the ideas, innovations, and struggles that built the modern world. By examining the artistic, philosophical, political, and scientific legacies of these cultures, you’ll gain a deeper appreciation of how history continues to influence our lives today.

Historical Research and Philosophy | To truly understand history, you must learn to think like a historian. This course refines your ability to research, analyze, and communicate historical narratives while engaging with the philosophical principles that shape the study of history. Designed for history and BSE majors, this capstone experience prepares you to confidently interpret the past, ask deeper questions, and share compelling historical insights with the world.

Western Political Thought | Every society must decide how power is structured, justice is upheld, and freedom is defined. This course takes you on a journey through the evolution of political philosophy, studying great thinkers like Plato, Aristotle, Locke, and Marx. By examining the ideas that have shaped governments and societies, you’ll gain the critical insight to engage in today’s political debates and become an informed leader in shaping the future.

The American Civil Rights Movement | Change is never inevitable—it is demanded, fought for, and won. This course immerses you in the struggle for civil rights in America, exploring the grassroots activism, political battles, and cultural shifts that reshaped the nation.
