help students fund their Christian education
Williams Baptist University is embarking on an inspiring journey with “The Williams Way Campaign” aimed at propelling the university to new heights. At the heart of this initiative is the endeavor to raise funds for the J.E. and L.E. Mabee Foundation Center, a pivotal space that will further enhance the university’s academic and community impact.
In addition to supporting the Mabee Foundation Center, the campaign will channel its efforts towards bolstering the Williams Works Initiative and the Williams Works Endowment Fund. These endeavors are aligned with our commitment to fostering a holistic educational experience that extends beyond the classroom.
STARTUP CHAPEL RENOVATION
Construction has begun on the $1 million Startup Chapel Renovation project. The historic chapel, dating back to World War II, is to be thoroughly renovated, including a refurbished auditorium and a new addition at the rear of the structure.
Startup Chapel is named in honor of longtime academic dean and history professor Kenneth Startup. The chapel is actively used for theater productions and other events.
The chapel project is to be fully funded by donors, including a $200,000 gift from the J.E. & L.E. Mabee Foundation.
J.E. and L.e. mabee foundation wellness center
Williams Baptist University is thrilled to announced a historic $4 million gift from the Mabee Foundation, marking the largest donation ever received by the university. In celebration of the 75th anniversary of the foundation and in honor of its founders, John and Lottie Mabee, the board of trustees has chosen WBU to be the recipient of a special grant. This generous gift will secure the naming rights for the construction of the J. E. and L. E. Mabee Foundation Wellness Center on the Williams campus.
The J. E. and L. E. Mabee Foundation Wellness Center, envisioned by WBU President Dr. Stan Norman, is set to become a state-of-the-art facility promoting physical fitness, mental health, and community engagement. Anticipated features include two basketball courts, top-notch exercise equipment, exercise rooms, locker rooms, a video gaming room, and a community area with a large screened porch. The center is expected to play a pivotal role in enrollment growth, student retention, and the overall enhancement of campus life.
The Mabee Foundation, a philanthropic force established in 1948 by John and Lottie Mabee, has been a longstanding supporter of WBU’s initiatives. The estimated cost of the project is $8 million, and WBU plans to explore additional fundraising opportunities to ensure the successful completion of the J. E. and L. E. Mabee Foundation Wellness Center.Â
