Watson is WBU’s New Director of Financial Aid

Dr. Andrew Watson has taken on a new role at Williams Baptist University, where he is helping students find the means to fund their education.  Watson, a WBU alumnus and veteran staff member, is now the university’s director of financial aid.

“I am excited to have the opportunity to serve in this important position,” Watson said.  “Our current financial aid staff is highly experienced, and I am eager to work alongside them to develop and implement financial aid strategies that will assist our students, impact enrollment and further the mission of WBU.”

Watson moved to his new role in November after serving as director of admissions at WBU.  He is also the head coach of the WBU track & field and cross country teams.

“The position of director of financial aid is a perfect fit for Dr. Watson’s abilities,” said Angela Flippo, vice president for enrollment management.  “His attention to detail and his grasp of data and numbers, along with his passion for helping WBU students, will suit him very well in this role. He will be a great asset to our students.”

Watson recently completed his doctorate in educational leadership, with an emphasis in college administration, at Arkansas State University.  He is a 2008 graduate of WBU, and he also holds a master’s degree from Arkansas Tech University.

A native of Walnut Ridge, he is married to Heather Watson, and they have two young children.  They live in Paragould, Ark. He is the son of Dan & Susan Watson.

Williams announced this fall that it has streamlined its merit-based scholarships, where students are awarded financial aid on the basis of their college entrance examination scores.  Details of those scholarships are available at https://williamsbu.edu/wbu-scholarships/.

WBU is a private, Christian university in Walnut Ridge, Ark.
