Williams Baptist University’s choral and instrumental ensembles will be in concert April 21 at the university. The Williams Singers, WBU Band and University Jazz Band will all perform at the event, which starts at 6:30 p.m. in Manley Chapel.
The Williams Singers’ portion of the concert will include sacred choral works, as well as some musical theater as the group performs “For Good” from the Broadway show and major motion picture, “Wicked.”
The men and ladies also will be featured as separate choruses on two songs, and a small ensemble will perform Moses Hogan’s “We Shall Walk Through The Valley in Peace.”
Another choral feature of the concert is a Schubert song cycle from WBU senior and Arkansas Federation of Music Clubs award winner TJ Bedgood.
On its part of the program, the University Band will perform “United Nations March” by Karl King, “River of Hope” by Michael Sweeney, based on the folk-hymn “Down to the River to Pray,” and the band will conclude with a fast-paced, high energy piece by Andrew Perkins entitled “Burn After Reading”.
The University Jazz Band will perform “Prime Time Blues” by Doug Beach, “Here’s That Rainy Day” by Jimmy Van Huesen, “Tiene Tumbao” by Fernando Osorio, arranged by Victor Lopez , and “The Chicken” by Alfred Ellis, arranged by Mike Story.
The public is invited to attend, and there is no charge for admission.
