Assistant or Associate Professor of Art

Williams Baptist University invites applications for a full-time faculty position in the Department of
Fine Arts, beginning Fall 2026. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to excellence
in teaching, student mentorship, and Christian higher education. This position requires broad
competency across multiple visual art media, foundational knowledge in art history, and the ability to
prepare and supervise students pursuing art education licensure.

Essential Functions:
-Teach undergraduate studio art courses across multiple media, which may include drawing,
painting, design, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, or related areas, based on faculty expertise
and departmental needs.
-Teach undergraduate art history courses appropriate to the curriculum.
-Teach Methods and Materials courses for art education majors.
-Teach general education art appreciation courses.
-Supervise and mentor art education interns in accordance with state licensure and institutional
standards.
-Advise and mentor visual arts and art education students academically, artistically, and
professionally.
-Participate in departmental planning, assessment, student recruitment, exhibitions, and university
service.

Additional Responsibilities (as qualifications allow):
-Assist with gallery exhibitions, student shows, or community engagement initiatives.
-Contribute to curriculum development and assessment for studio art and art education programs.
-Sponsor or advise student organizations related to visual arts or art education.

Education and Experience:
-Master’s degree in visual arts, art education, or a closely related field required; terminal degree
preferred.
-Demonstrated competency in multiple visual arts media
-Background or coursework in art history required
-Experience teaching or supervising K-12 art education students strongly preferred.
-Familiarity with state licensure requirements and accreditation standards preferred.

-Exceptional commitment to Christian higher education.
-Strong organizational skills, with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks
efficiently.
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
-Ability to mentor, advise, and spiritually guide college students effectively.
-Proficiency in managing confidential information and student records appropriately.
-Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with faculty, administration,
students, and external partners.
-A commitment to professional growth and to the mission and values of WBU.

Physical Requirements:
-Ability to stand, sit, type, and walk for extended periods of time
-Ability to sit for extended periods of time and to lift 35 lbs.
-Ability to use standard office equipment
-Ability to use institutional technology equipment and resources
