Job Description

This position works in the Business Office, within the Office of Business Affairs Organization. This position is responsible for cashiering duties in the Business Office. This position is responsible for overseeing the collection of student accounts and processing accounts payable. This position is responsible for processing end of the month student financial statements and working with the collection agency in cases of non-payment. Work with the Financial Aid Office to ensure student balance estimates are provided. Ensure that collection efforts comply with University policies and procedures and are not in violation of any local, state, or federal law. This position assists the Director of Business Services and is cross trained in needed areas across the business affairs departments.

  • The Coordinator receives direct leadership and supervision from the Executive Vice President for Administration and Campus Life

Supervision Functions:

  • Not Applicable

Education:

  • Required: Associate’s degree
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree

Experience:

  • Required: formal training and/or experience in accounting and financial management
  • Preferred: familiarity working in a Christian educational context

Knowledge, Skills, Competencies:

  • Collaborative work habits and ability to establish collegial relationships; able to effectively work within a team environment; able to resolve conflicts.
  • Strong interpersonal relationship and communication skills and be able to interact with students, vendors, and all levels of employees including colleagues and executives.
  • Organizational efficiency and attention to detail; able to work quickly with high degree of accuracy; able to multitask
  • Ability to handle confidential information appropriately
  • Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; gathers and analyzes information skillfully; develops alternative solutions; facilitates group problem-solving efforts
  • Exemplifies professionalism; reacts well under pressure; treats others with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position; accepts responsibility for own actions; follows through on commitments; maintains the highest integrity
  • Experience in bookkeeping, accounting, accounts receivable and accounts payable

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to type, answer the phone, read, stretch, and lift up to 35 pounds
  • Ability to stand, sit, type, and walk for extended periods of time
  • Proficiency and ability in use of standard office equipment and institutional technology resources, including but not limited to Excel

Work Environment:

  • Hectic and sometimes noisy inside work environment, with ongoing phone calls and stakeholders visiting the office for assistance.
  • Must be able to successfully multitask.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

  • Full-time position.  Normal working hours are 8:00-4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday.  May require infrequent overtime, arriving early, or working late.

Travel:

  • Not applicable unless scheduled for an outside training class or seminar.
